Share The Love...

As part of our ongoing effort to Pursue the Handmade, I have just signed up to be a part of this fantastic new marketing idea- Share the Love- through On Fire for Handmade! This wonderful project features an artisan each week, and in a joint effort, all members of Share the Love will take some time to explore and discuss this Creative Genius's fantastic works! How brilliant is this? I am so excited about this new venture! So, stay tuned...each week not only will we review the artisans in the ongoing exploration of handmade that I find on the web- but we will also have an extra post with our Share the Love Artisan, too! Isn't this great?

Visit On Fire for Handmade

Remember, if you have a shop, or just love to create, and would like to share your passion with us... Just comment with a contact, URL, email, etc! and I will get back to you ASAP!

If you would like to share a pattern, How To, etc. please let me know! I am anxiously trying to find some additions to a new series that will start in mid January called "I could do that..."! So, stay tuned for that, also!

Setting Up a New Shop with the Latest Items....

Over the Holiday weekend, I decided to plunge, feet first, into the new zibbet Marketplace.  If you have not tried it, it is worth a minute of your time to explore.  The listing is very easy, and it's free!  You can list up to 25 items, free.  There is also the upgrade for 7.00 or the lifetime membership for about 150.00!  Anyway you go, it seems like a great deal.  But, is the traffic there?  That was my concern before I splurge on a lifetime account.  This is a lifelong project for me because I love what I am doing, but I am not at a point where I can leave the 9-5 world just yet (boy, I wish I was...).  So, every minute online has to count.  Every marketing effort has to be substantial- (if you have not checked it out, you should visit my blog:  Mishaps of Mommy- for marketing shortcuts, tips, free services and more at http://mishapsofmommy.blogspot.com)

So, I opened shop, created some NEW items for the event, and now we wait?  No, now we get busy and promote the heck out of zibbet to see where it is going to go!  Etsy did not occur one day, many people worked tirelessly at it, each individual store promoted and shouted their URL to the world... The same has to be true of Zibbet!  I like the idea of getting in on the ground floor of a marketplace, so I can learn and explore as each new application and service is added, plus the competition is not quite so tough!  The idea of being part of something new excites me!

So, today I listed some of my latest (and possibly greatest) new items:

First is the Sweet Pea Bath Set with a giant 5 ounce bath butter bar in sweet pea with essential oils for skin care, an all natural sweet pea solid fragrance pot, and 1.7 ounce natural sweet pea sugar scrub with essential oils like jojoba, avocado, and aloe, Mango butter (organic), mineral salts, etc.... All for a discounted price of 5.50!  And with the new flat rate shipping, you can get it all for 4.95 (and maybe add another bath bar, fragrance, or shampoo)

You can also opt for the larger version with a 6.5 ounce sugar scrub for only 7.50 for the set!

Another new item I listed today is the Orange Blossom Mango shampoo in 4ounces, or 6.5 ounce flip top container.  This great shampoo has a super rich and thick lather, is created with essential oils like Rosemary (known to assist in scalp care), jojoba oil, avocado oil, aloe oil, and sugar (to name a few of the ingredients!).  Long lasting orange and mango fragrance lets you feel like you are on vacation everyday.  No heavy or oily residue!  Great for every hair type and on sale now!

So, stop by the new Zibbet shop at http://www.zibbet.com/MommyTyme and see what you think!

Who said Wire and Oil Doesn't mix?

So, you are down to those hard to buy for, last minute gifts, right? Not only that, you might want to give yourself a treat after all the holiday stress you have endured... Well, check out these two superb artisans I found on Etsy...

Small Footprints- an eco-conscious artisan jewelry designer and Art 1st- a talented artisan in oils and more...

I am literally awestruck when I see their work- It is really a treat for a crafter like myself to come across someone's work and instead of saying to myself, "I think I can make that", I say, "Wow! I gotta have that!". I say this because there is no way I can begin to touch on the artistic expression they have compiled in their shop on etsy and at their blog! Truly, take a moment, grab a cup of coffee, and just browse. Really look at the pieces they have for sale.

Let me share a few of my favorites- and how they make a living, I have no idea, because their work is affordable to the average Joe like me!

This one is called Memories of the Bay and you can find it at their Etsy shop, Appealingtou

Isn't this gorgeous?

Now, this one is my actual favorite, and I have kept an eye on it for sometime.  I love the blend of colors, I love the energy and intensity in the strokes- This one is called Rage and again, you can find it on the Etsy shop!

I adore these earrings created by Small Footprints!  Mexican Smiles.  Wouldn't these go great with a classy evening look, or standing on the beach in a simple vacation wrap?  These are just amazing, and so creative!  Keep in mind that Small Footprints strives to use recycled materials, eco-friendly metals and pieces, so you can truly feel good about these items when you adorn them!  This, too, can be found on the etsy shop!

These are definitely my cup of tea!  I think these are so creative and unique!  How fantastic with the color blends?  The dangles?  Where else are you going to find such a fun accessory at such a great price!  Check out the etsy shop at:

But, readers, we are not finished yet... There are still the blogs to discuss....

Visit the Reduce Footprints Blog throughout the entire year..There are some fantastic articles for the socially aware individual that hides inside you!  Great tips on how to be "green" without giving up everything, wonderful vegan recipes, and so much more!  Really!  In fact, there is a great list compiled right now of Winter Shopping Sites of Handmade and Artisan vendors.  I can not imagine the amount of work that must have went into this... I have struggled to keep up with my holiday series, but somehow, Small Footprints has generated an enormous list of great artisans who have some significant Holiday Sale items!  So, check it out, then subscribe and keep up to date with the ways you can help to preserve and nurture this planet we all share!
http://reducefootprints.blogspot.com

http://4oneaday.blogspot.com is another great blog hosted by my Featured Artisans today!  Here is where Art displays his work for review, comments, and more... Wow!  There are even more great pieces here!  You will find items not listed in the Etsy shop like, December Eve (below)- How incredible?  I have the perfect place for this, and I could just get lost in the imagery.  How can such a skilled and talented artist not be splattered all over the place?  His work is worth an investment; In a few years you are likely not going to be able to touch work by Art as he will be discovered and lining our most prestigious institutions.  A gifted artist does not remain hidden for long.... I truly encourage you to visit the blog.  If you cant afford a piece right now, at least reward yourself with the opportunity to explore his work.

I would love to hear your comments... did you check out the blogs?  did you visit the etsy shop?  What do you think?  Are you as impressed as I?

Well, I have several more artisans I want to explore, so I am not shutting down the Pursuit of the Perfect Handmade just yet.  I think we will extend and continue to review some of the unique and extraordinary artisans, crafters, and vendors out there.  I thought it might be nice to locate some suppliers and marketers/advertisers also, who may have ideas, tips, etc. to help promote our finds along their journey!  So, if you know a person who is amazing with their hands, send them here and ask that they comment with their shop, blog, link, etc and leave a brief description of what they do... And if you are the artisan, same thing, just leave a comment with your link, blog, etc so I can check you out!  I will let you know when I am going to post a review of your shop/items!\
Subscribe to the blog so you can keep an eye on what is coming out, the latest trends, and the hidden, undiscovered artisans out there....Soon to be the creme de la crop of the Handmade Marketplaces....

PS- Take a moment and visit the new web site at http://www.mommytyme.org

Also, scroll down/up and find the butter bar giveaway!  I am giving away another extra large handmade bath bar to the winning entrant!  This was going to end on the 20th, but since the site crashed I am extending it for a few more days!  Good luck!  To enter read the rules in the Butter Bar Giveaway Post!

reBlog from Mommy Tyme: Mishaps of Mommy

I found this fascinating quote today:

A blog is actually an online journal of sorts. With a blog you can upload daily posts about anything that you want. Some people create personal blogs as a way to keep in touch with family members. Pictures, videos and other information are uploaded so your loved ones are current with what is going on with you.Mommy Tyme, Mishaps of Mommy, Dec 2009

Great Handmade Finds by Made for Me by Oaklie

Great Handmade Finds by Made for Me by Oaklie
Great New contest up and running! Vote for Mommy Tyme at the left! Thanks!

Today's great find in our Pursuit of Handmade is Tracy Cornell from Braggin Rights! To get a better idea what Tracy is all about I just cut a little info from her bio and I hope she does not mind...

"I love altering art in any way that mind "sees" it. I like to do embroidery, with floss or thread, ribbon, or crewel; draw with charcoal , pastels, & paint with watercolors. I sew, do quilting, crochet, make quilted & embellished photo albums, & custom wedding albums. I've recently begun a line of recycled creations as well."

That really does not tell you ALL she has to offer! Wow! She has a gorgeous Retro apron that would make a great gift for anyone on your list! She has a "green theme" with eco scrubbies, bag savers, and a ton of other fantastic items! Again, these are all handcrafted, handmade, high quality products that you CAN NOT find at Walmart! Oh, don't forget the so cute jewelry items listed!  Look for the blue flower earrings (definitely my favorite!)

Let me give you a peek....

Braggin Rights can be located at the following places:

Please take a moment to browse her shops, and then come back here and talk about what you liked!  this is a great way to give Tracy some feedback and share with other readers the great items that can be found with Braggin Rights!

Remember, stay tuned in our Pursuit of the Perfect Handmade Holidays- Next week is a 2 for 1!  You will be introduced to Small Footprints and Art 1st!  I cant tell you too much or it will ruin the surprise, but be prepared for some fantastic artwork!...

Pursuit of the Perfect Handmade Christmas... Introducing Marilyn from Bits of Clay

Wow!  I am blown away by the fantastic polymer clay and precious metals jewelry I found at Bits of Clay!  Looking for a unique, high quality jewelry addition?  Looking for the perfect gift?  This is a great resource!  Visit http://www.bitsofclay.com

Some of my favorites that I found, that are also a real bargain are:

The Flower Bouquet at 35.00- Tell me this is not a gorgeous bracelet?  Who would not love to wear this beautiful and unique piece?

The other fantastic piece I was really interested in is the sterling silver chain with the precious metals leaf and ladybug necklace.  How beautiful is this one?  Marilyn does such a fantastic job, and her work is affordable.  This one is a little more expensive, but it is sterling silver...

So, if you are shopping for jewelry- and she has it all, visit Bits of Clay this holiday season and find a truly gorgeous addition for your own collection or the perfect gift for the woman in your life!  Thanks, Marilyn for being a part of this....
